What is All-Stars?
All-Stars is a competitive tournament play which begins play immediately following the regular season. Teams will compete with other All-Star teams of their same level formed from the other Little Leagues within our District 2.
What are the age divisions to play on an All-Star team?
8/9/10 year olds (10U)
9/10/11 year olds (11U)
10/11/12 year olds (12U - Majors)
12/13 year olds (Intermediate)
12/13/14 year olds (Junior)
13/14/15/16 year olds (Senior)
What is the selection process? All-Star selection will be made by tryout and by nominations from managers (with input from their team and assistant coaches). To be eligible, players must have participated in regular season and played 60% of the games. Once the All-Star Manager has chosen the players, the manager will announce the team roster to the league.
What does the season entail?
Mount Sentinel is a member of Montana District 2 Little League, District 2 pool play, and District 2 tournament. Once teams have been announced, players should expect to practice daily. The manager will announce the practice schedule and team expectations. Every age level will compete in a scheduled weekend of pool play within the District. The standings from this weekend will place them in brackets for the District tournament which will be held on a later weekend. This is a double elimination tournament, with potential to move on to the State tournament. Not all teams will advance to the State level. Montana has two Districts. Hosting the State tournament rotates each year from one District to the other. The state tournament is held in the current years hosting District at the complex of the team who won the District championship. This is separate for each age level. All age divisions have the opportunity to advance to the state tournament. In addition, the 10/11/12 year old All-Star team has the opportunity to advance beyond the state tournament to compete at the Regional Little League World Series in San Bernardino, California and with success there the Little League World series in Willliamsport, Pennsylvania. Are the play rules different from the regular season?Yes, There are minimum play rules that apply for tournament play. This means some players may only play the minimum required at bat and consecutive outs in a game. Players may also be selected to play different positions than they play in regular season. Coaches will have full discretion to make this determination.
Are there additional fees to play on an All-Stars team?
There are additional fees of $125 required to play All-Stars. These fees cover the League Charter, Insurance, and All-Star uniforms. Pictures will be available for an additional fee. Travel expenses are the responsibility of the players' family.
