Player Equipment by Division
IMPORTANT: Metal cleats are allowed only in the Intermediate, Juniors, and Seniors divisions. Players in the lower divisions may wear rubber or molded cleats only. Across all levels, anyone playing the position of catcher must have an athletic supporter and cup system.
If you have questions about equipment or are unsure what to purchase, email Mount Sentinel at [email protected] or check with your player’s coach. Specific questions about equipment can be directed to Umpire-in-Chief Max Cannon at [email protected] or (406) 251-3754.
T-BALL
Players only need a baseball glove to get started. Many families choose to add baseball pants and cleats, but those are optional at this level. If players are not wearing baseball pants, they should wear sweatpants or other full-length athletic pants (no shorts), along with closed-toe athletic shoes and socks. The league provides helmets and bats, though players are welcome to bring their own bat as long as it meets USA Baseball (USABat) standards. T-Ball bats must have a specific T-Ball designation imprint on the bat.
MINOR B
Players will need both a glove and cleats. Baseball pants remain optional. Helmets, bats, and catcher’s gear are provided by the league, and any personal bat must meet USA Baseball (USABat) standards.
MINOR A & MAJORS
Players are expected to have a glove, cleats, baseball pants, and an athletic cup for safety. Some players opt to bring their own batting helmet, but the league will provide helmets, bats, and catcher’s gear. Players may use their own bat if it meets USA Baseball (USABat) standards and all helmets must fit properly and have a NOCSAE stamp or seal indicating they meet approved safety standards.
INTERMEDIATE, JUNIORS & SENIORS
Players should have a glove, cleats, baseball pants, and an athletic cup. Some players also choose to use batting gloves and sliding shorts for added comfort and bring their own batting helmet. The league will provide helmets, bats, and catcher’s gear. At this level, bats must meet either USA Baseball (USABat) or BBCOR standards; all helmets must fit properly and have a NOCSAE stamp or seal indicating they meet approved safety standards.
